Defeat legions of monsters and demons
Devil's Derby, created by an indie developer named Elliott Ayling for PC, is a fast-paced, action-packed shooter game in which players must eliminate throngs of demonic enemy types through the usage of guns in a dangerous arena to get a high score.
Illustrated in a hybrid of 3D and pixel graphics, Devil's Derby offers old-school gameplay with a fresh twist, making it the perfect title for retro title enthusiasts and modern game lovers. This combat-filled game utilizes score attack, arena shooter, and skating mechanics and explores gothic, dark fantasy, and supernatural themes.
Skate and blast
In Devil's Derby, you must utilize the ability to skate and slide through planes and jump on platforms while eliminating various enemy types, such as demons, fiends, and monsters, in a multi-layered arena. Shoot and blast them with an SMG and a pistol and charge them up to even release devastating attacks, allowing you to accumulate points to achieve a higher score.
Be careful, though. The monsters are after you, chasing you wherever you go. So, use advanced movement techniques aside from sliding and skating, such as grinding, bouncing, blast-jumping, and wall-running, to get away from them while blasting them with bullets. The higher points you earn each run, the deadlier the SMG becomes, allowing you to adapt to the increasingly challenging arena.
In this game, you only get one chance in a single-level arena with an accumulated overall score. Death means losing the game. And the whole point is surviving against land and aerial monsters. However, the game has its downsides, which can be improved in future updates, including resetting mouse sensitivity and key binds when retrying and music volume returning to its default settings when relaunching the game.
Chaotic arena shooter experience
Devil’s Derby delivers a thrilling blend of chaotic action, fluid movement, and stylish retro visuals that challenge players to master every mechanic in their fight for the highest score. With intense arena battles, a unique movement system, and gothic flair, the game is a standout indie title for classic and modern shooter fans. While it has a few rough edges, its core gameplay more than makes up for it.
